Lizards and Witches

The text of this book is a compendium of the information about supernatural creatures that Delaney has written about in his books, sadly with little additional new material. This was especially disappointing given the numerous eye-rolling plugs The Bestiary has received in the midst of last four Last Apprentice novels.

This book immediately and painfully falls flat because of the entirely unrelated, non-sequitur illustrations within. This was designed as a picture book, a diary of monsters with descriptions and visions of myriad horrific beasts from a nightmare world. What you will find is pictures of lizards. Admittedly, quite well done pictures of lizards were this a Dungeons and Dragons fantasy module, but it's unbelievable that the publishers approved this series of illustrations for Delaney's gothic stories of witches, abhumans, and elementals. Witches look like lizards. Boggarts? Skelts? Ugly lizards. Werewolves look more like were-dragons.

Patrick Arrasmith illustrated the US versions of every other book in the Last Apprentice series with bone-chilling white-line scratchboard, why not this one?

After being elected president of a small Illinois symphony, he took it from near bankruptcy to sold-out concerts. He has seen "poor"-working through scholarships, odd jobs for the university, writing and playing original songs with his band, and also dragged himself over to the brighter side of life, closing his first real estate deal in time to pay off his student loans as well as provide seed money for his boutique real estate company. When he's not working on his books or speaking professionally, he helps out with such charities as the Make a Wish Foundation, the Starlight Foundation, and Broward's Children Center, raising money and creating interest in these organizations through events that he created and successfully initiated.

This work answers questions we ask ourselves in moments of doubt and in moments of glory, rhetorical questions that often do not have a satisfactory answer. The author's unique, philosophical and scientific method unveils the means to achieve our ends. He makes it remarkably simple - "Intend, declare and detach" - Peter's three key words pave the way of our ideals and dreams into reality.

The best book I have ever read! Life changing!

I have read The Secret and many other motivational/ self-help books that refer to personal evolution and self mastery I got Point of Power as a gift and it was the best motivation aid I have ever had!
This book is perfect for someone who strives to be the best version of themselves. This book has helped me to heal my marriage and fix my financial state. This Point of Power made me realise that I'm totally in charge of my thoughts that produce actions and my destiny. I have found the intend, declare, detach process of living the life I always wanted revolutionary.I enjoyed correlation with quantum physics that explains the scientific explanation to why some people life the live they always wanted.

The book itself is written in a highly intellectual manner and different to books by authors like Tony Robbins or Napoleon Hill. I would deserve it as a describe it as a clear eclecticism of intellectual discourse, quantum physics and life coaching. Highly recommended to the highly intellectual readers.

Silvia Maria Alessio is Assistant Professor of Digital Signal Processing and Physics of the Atmosphere at University of Torino, Italy. Her research focuses mainly on geophysics, more precisely the physics of atmosphere and of environmental, climatic and paleo-climatic problems.

Noonan (What I Saw at the Revolution), George Bush's most publicized speechwriter, describes her book accurately as "advice and anecdotes about the writing and giving of speeches." Not political speeches, which are probably an art form unto themselves, but the kind of speeches most people are at some time called upon to deliver. Noonan states her advice clearly: No speech should last more than 20 minutes; the text should be written out (no ad-libbing from outlines); humor is essential; read your draft speech aloud (speaking is different from writing); keep sentences short (the audience is hearing it, not reading it). One section deals with the special requirements of writing for other people. Shorter sections deal with situations such as toasts, tributes and eulogies. There are also tips on handling questions, walking up to the platform and meeting the audience afterward. The anecdotes deal chiefly with Noonan's adventures on the political circuit and in the White House with Presidents Reagan and Bush and are the fluffy sort of things the author herself probably uses facing audiences. The advice is practical and fairly obvious, but if speaking in public is indeed most people's Number One Fear, this is a calming, logical and sometimes entertaining guide.

Because Noonan, author of What I Saw at the Revolution and former speechwriter for Republican presidents, has bared her soul in an engaging and serious attempt to get all of us "speaking right and speaking simply." Sure, the book is disorganized--and there aren't any outlines or long lists. But what Noonan offers is solid advice, delivered simply. Speeches should last only 20 minutes. Write out your text. Use plain and simple language. Speeches must have content. And in exhorting her readers to do this or that, she inserts personal lessons she has learned, as well as examples from the greatest speakers, including Lincoln, Churchill, Reagan, and, yes, Earl Spencer at Diana's funeral. Towards a theology of the secular city

The Secular City not only delineates the main features of contemporary life in the post industrial age where technology has advanced so far that it has made revolutionary inroads to the features of cities across the main capitals of the world and offer a credible presentation of God's presence in this our contemporary world, largely moved by a cynical mental take or indifference to the reality of God. It does so not by means of mere philosophical and sociological presuppositions but by real, down to earth research on actual sociological phenomena. Harvey Cox the author presents the credible, often times astonishing developments of major cities in our world and aims to present his conclusions on how to interpret theology in secular society. Is it even possible to create a theology of the secular city? Do we have to be members of an organized religion to participate in a credible acceptance of God's presence in our world?
