Their hope lies in the kingdom of Sasrar to the north of Teletsia across the Sea of Illusion. Their journey there is not easy and tests them at each step of the way. Not only are they being pursued by the Sorcerers' soldiers, but they also find treachery in the places they have to travel through. There are some good people who help them, and they also receive spiritual and practical help from some mysterious keys. They don't realise it but they are fulfilling an old prophecy which is only the beginning for young people everywhere.

About the Author
Linda Williams spent a fair amount of her childhood painting, riding ponies and trying to get to fantasy worlds. She grew up in the English countryside, and from her late teens travelled widely and lived in a number of different parts of the world including India, Europe and Africa. She has lived in India for ten years, and has an intimate knowledge of Indian history and legends. This trilogy, of which The Keys of Wisdom is the first part, is a fantasy based on some of the timeless legends of India.

a nice book for kids, youngsters and everyone

The Keys of Wisdom is a suspenseful page turner, hard to put down, and although obviously written for children, it contains universal truths that adults will also find appealing, as well as humourous moments to make both young and old laugh out loud. The appeal of such tales is that they reach beyond age and traditions: the epic struggle between good and evil.

The characters resonate with the timeless heroes of India - Raynor, the reluctant leader, to a certain extent echoes Arjuna, the warrior prince of the Bhagavad Gita. Like Arjuna, Raynor does not want to kill if it can possibly be avoided. Then the island school is reminiscent of Mahatma Gandhi's ashram, where the young people of the Indian freedom struggle learnt the necessary lessons of right conduct and humility etc.

Whereas the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings were written when the world had recently been at war, and were a cry in the dark, a reminder that there is hope in troubled times, this book, the first part of a trilogy, is written in the Age of Aquarius. It heralds the coming of a bright day, and there is an optimism that good will win out.

`We fully intended to be an instrument for the Sorcerers' destruction, even if we had no idea how,' the narrator asserts in Chapter One, using the popular name for the evil `High Priests' who hold their outwardly orderly land in a stranglehold of fear.

Even though the characters in the book have their faults, they do not just stumble along. As they overcome their weaknesses, the negative forces of their world begin to flounder.

Like ancient India, much of the Keys of Wisdom takes place in lands of saints, jungles and tigers - and like India many astonishing things happen, `Talking about miracles makes... one realise how amazing they are.' Many of the incidents are based on personal experiences of the author, who, knowing they were too incredible to be recorded as facts, wrote them into a fantasy.

A thrilling adventure for all young adults and the not so young!

Although written specifically for young adults, "The Keys of Wisdom" is a great adventure story of the timeless battle between the forces of good and evil. It will thrill and delight readers of all ages. Reading "The Keys of Wisdom" can be fun, highly entertaining, and at the same time deeply spiritual. It is a very unique story that restores our faith in humanity and the great spiritual potential waiting to be discovered within all human beings.

"The Keys of Wisdom" is the first part of a trilogy titled "The Saga of Nova Septima,' or the "New Seven." Go on the journey of a lifetime with Asha, Raynor, and other young children who have been chosen to fulfill a prophecy that will liberate their native land and allow its citizens to once again laugh and enjoy life! In search of the secrets to the "Keys," these powerful, courageous children must overcome many obstacles in order to save their country of Teletsia from the evil sorcerers who have complete control over its citizens and all aspects of their lives.

Images of incredible beauty interweave with evil creatures as the children continue their suspenseful journey Subtitled "A Fantasy of Reality," "The Keys of Wisdom" displays great depth in the understanding of the human condition. In the confused and chaotic world we live in, the author offers the reader hope and a very positive vision of the world and humanity. She also raises the reader to a great spiritual dimension of the highest level. "The Keys of Wisdom" reaches a depth that is rarely found in literary works. Lovely book

I have just finished reading this book and would definitely recommend it as a Christmas gift for young adults and adults who enjoy books such as Harry Potter or the Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper. There is a nice blend of adventure, feel-good factor and suspense which makes the reader hungry to get to the next chapter. I am really looking forward to the next few books in the trilogy and hope that a lot of other people can discover this writer.

I read alot,I search alot,for healing,growth and methods that answer my questions on why am I still stuck in a pattern - how can I move to a higher place? This book explains very logically a non-logical reality,and gives one methods to USE! This book I found much more meaningful than her Anatomy of the Spirit. This book covers the exact same info but explains what to do with the chakras in ways that I can use. Thank you Caroline,this was honest and all that many other books promise. (The other best book I ever read was Reclaiming Your Life by Jean Jenson)

Made me feel worse

I started reading this book a while ago. I thought what she said about woundology was very insightful, and it answered my puzzlement over why some of my friends still feel hurt by and can't let go of wounds from their past, even though I'm younger and grew up with similar wounds that no longer seem like such a big deal. However, recently, I found out that I may have a rather serious illness, and I made the mistake of continuing to read the book. I was actually feeling rather positive and thoughtful about the possibility of being possibly seriously sick - I'd talked to a friend about it, and I could see it as a sign and opportunity to start manifesting the plans I'd been making and live my life the way I want to, and be more gentle and caring toward myself, despite others' expectations and obligations of me and the extremely draining and negative work situation I've been in. I was actually feeling pretty good, was considering my options, and making plans to change the way I'm living. However, reading more of Ms. Myss's anecdotes burst my bubble. Besides woundology, I don't think she actually has many insights on why some people don't heal, and she writes those people off as 'not being ready' or 'not having enough energy' rather than giving you more information about the details of the situations so you can figure it out for yourself, or trying to probe deeper.

One story that really stuck out to me was about a lady who had breast cancer who didn't want conventional treatment (only alternative therapies) and who Ms. Myss perceived as still being caught up in the aftermath of her failed marriage. Ms. Myss told her that her energy was being expended on the marriage and she needed to refocus her energy on healing, suggested counseling, and said that in the meantime she "had to" reconsider allopathic treatments. The next thing she says about this woman is "Symbolically it made sense to her, but she could not actually make emotional contact with the image. While her mind found great comfort in the idea of entering into Individual power, her energy was unable to make the transition. Eventually her cancer spread throughout her body, and she passed away within a year of her original diagnosis." Um, what..?? First of all, for me reading this, this was seriously upsetting. Myss gives no further explanation of what happened to the lady or why, or if she tried allopathic treatments; even this last sentence doesn't give any factual information, but is totally Myss' own interpretations of what happened. For me, who was feeling upbeat and hopeful, this gave the impression that even if you know what you need to do, you still might not, for some inexplicable reason, be able to do it. And then you might die. Also, Myss' attitude toward this woman is very flippant. She seems to say the lady wasn't up to the task of overcoming her illness, that's why she died, and Myss can wash her hands of it but use it as a teachable moment. I'm not sure what the lesson is.. It seems to me that there must have been a further block for the woman that was preventing her from letting go of the emotional baggage of her marriage, or whatever else was draining her energy. However, Myss doesn't seem to think it's her concern to have dug deeper and found out what it might have been, and provided a suggestion to the woman that might have made dealing with it easier. This and the many other anecdotes in the book suggest to me that to Myss the world is divided into worthy and unworthy people: the worthy ones are capable of healing, and so tautologically deserve it; the unworthy ones practice woundology, or are stubborn, or 'don't have enough energy' and so don't deserve to be healed. Not impressive.

Another issue I have is with the idea that healing necessarily has to be difficult and require a lot of sacrifice. While this may be true, it isn't always, and it's also not the best perspective with which to view healing. She mentions a workshop where she asked people how ready they were to heal. Then she challenged them by asking if they would be willing to change their job, relocate, change most of their attitudes, change all of their physical habits, or live for three months in solitude in order to heal. I remember at another point she mentions that you should also be willing to leave your partner. And the quote: "Once you place conditions on healing, all you can achieve is conditional healing". I don't think this is how healing works at all. While strict regimens, attitude shifts, or leaving a negative relationship may be necessary, it depends on the individual and their situation. I don't think healing should be viewed in this oppositional lens: my healing vs. the rest of my life. Or that you need to give up things in your life that are good and positive in order to meet the requirements of healing. True healing should transform your way of life, not oppose it. She also complains about how, when she asked what people would be willing to give up, a woman said she wouldn't mind leaving her job, having more time on her hands and being able to travel. Myss complains about this because she's apparently showing an unwillingness to sacrifice because she's stating things she wants, rather than stating what she's willing to give up. I think the author is getting a bit zealous here. This lady seemed to be stating things that would be beneficial to her quality of life. I'm sure many people can identify with the feeling of being constantly rushed and not having enough time. It's hard for healing to take place in such circumstances. Myss should have encouraged her self-affirming wishes and had her examine how having these things might be able to help her quality of life and ability to heal, and how she could achieve them. Instead, she complains about everyone in the workshop for following the lady's example and talking about what they wish they had in their lives rather than what they're willing to give up.

I think overall Myss seems to have a very negative approach to healing. When I talked to my friend when I felt worried, the friend told me to imagine an authority (whatever authority I preferred) powerfully telling me that I would be alright, and to feel that in my solar plexus. I imagined it coming from the universe, and it was actually very effective. When I worried whether I would be able to manage such an illness, she assured me that I would. Talking with her was very uplifting, and helped me to feel my own strength. Reading Myss, in comparison, was very depressing and frightening. She seems to be very perceptive about people's emotional states, but not very compassionate or understanding, so I think what happens is that when she meets people she gives them her insights. For some, that's what they needed in order to see things more clearly. For others, just the insight isn't enough, and Myss doesn't help them. Myss seems to categorize the first group as inherently ready to heal, and the second group as not ready. In reality, I think she with her very limited (and judgmental) perspective is the weak link, but she externalizes all her failures.

I'm writing this review simply so that I can air out and discard the negative effect it had on me. If you have a potentially life-threatening illness, I would not recommend this book - it might frighten you and muddle things as it did for me. If you have a chronic issue that you just can't seem to overcome, this book might nail your issue, but you need to be capable of listening to potentially hard truths that aren't put softly.

For someone who's looking for empowering/effective alternative healing methods, I would instead recommend: The Healing Power of Sound: Recovery from Life-Threatening Illness Using Sound, Voice, and Music. It's also possible (though not necessary) to get a traditional Tibetan singing bowl on E-Bay for a totally affordable price.

About the Author

E. Kevin Kelloway is the Canada Research Chair in Occupational Health Psychology at Saint Mary’s University. He received his PhD in Organizational Psychology from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON) and taught for eight years at the University of Guelph. In 1999 he moved to Saint Mary’s University where he also holds the position of Professor of Psychology. He was the founding director of the CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety and the PhD program in Business Administration (Management). He was also a founding principal of the Centre for Leadership Excellence at Saint Mary’s. An active researcher, he is the author/editor of 12 books and over 100 research articles and chapters. He is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the Canadian Psychological Association and of the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Good but intorductory overview

This is a good beginner's guide to SEM and LISREL. The author explains the concepts in a very understandable manner. Although I bought this book two years back, I still refer back to it occasionally. I would highly recommend this to someone who is just starting out with SEM. But more advanced users will be a little disappointed because it stops at the basics. Two notes of warning are in order: (1) this book does NOT discuss the visual interface that LISREL now has, and (2) SPSS now supports AMOS and has dropped LISREL support.

Not just about LISREL

In teaching structural equation modeling in a doctoral-level graduate class, I found Kelloway's book one of the most useful resources. Despite its title, the book is not only about LISREL. The initial chapters provide an excellent overview of the science (and art) of structural equation modeling. Kelloway provides probably a better summary than most other books on the topic.

A worthy guide to non-specialists

If your goal is to use LISREL and apply structural equation modeling to your own work, this is the book for you. Goes over the model and the software in enough detail to handle most of the problems my stats students see, and is clearly written and easy to follow.

Electronic Project Design and Fabrication, Fifth Edition, offers a complete experience in the design and fabrication of electronic prototype projects. Whether you are enrolled in a traditional lecture and laboratory class or a fabrication course devoted entirely to the subject, this book provides the hands-on experience in project building and documentation every prospective electronics technician requires.

A project, however, is not all you will be developing as you progress through the text. You will also be building confidence in your ability to construct electronic devices. The know-how to take a project from an initial concept through to final construction with support documentation is sure to give you pride and self-assurance as you enter the electronics industry. Electronic Project Design and Fabrication will prepare you for that exciting moment.

Think of yourself as a technician on the job. Your supervisor presents you with a project idea designed to fill a need or to solve a problem. You must determine if the idea is feasible and, if so, build a working prototype project and develop an accompanying Project Report.

The project should resemble the final, mass-produced product. You must design the circuit, breadboard it, design and fabricate a printed circuit board, and then enclose the project in a functional and attractive case. The Project Report is to include appropriate written and graphic documentation. It delineates various troubleshooting and test procedures, summarizes project developments, and contains the 10-drawing set used to construct the prototype project.

In project construction, you have a choice of three approaches. In the first approach, you choose to build the Sample Project—the Variable Power Supply. This project progresses from chapter to chapter, starting with the two-step design process and ending with a completely packaged and tested prototype project, along with necessary documentation.

The Exercise Project, the 3-Channel Color Organ, is at a slightly higher level of difficulty. Because less help is provided in building this project, you'll have to do a bit of digging and developing on your own. The Exercise Project also is carried from chapter to chapter.

Finally, 30 Elective Projects are presented in Part III. Only Concepts and Requirements Documents and circuit design sketches are provided. Here you will need to develop specific project design and fabrication details on your own.

Although the project construction and documentation motivate you to progress from one chapter to the next, Electronic Project Design and Fabrication is more than a project book. The fundamentals of prototype project design, fabrication, and documentation are a part of every chapter. Even if you elect not to construct a project (a most unlikely occurrence), you will gain a firmer understanding of electronic device fabrication after studying the book.

The fifth edition of Electronic Project Design and Fabrication represents an up-to-date revision of a well-received text. New material has been added, including the following: "Something to Think About" minisections have been added at the end of every section. Students will find these suggestions for further inquiry inspiring. Chapter summaries have been updated to better lead into the material to come. Searching for electronic component sources has become easier, via the Internet. In Chapter 3 we explain how best to do this. In Chapter 7, a section has been added on PC board trace-width spacing. Electronics Workbench material in Chapter 3 has been revised to include a discussion of MultiSim V6.2. Material on computer-aided design (CAD), in Chapter 11, has been revised. Five new elective projects have been added in Chapter 17. Two new appendices have been added: Appendix J lists electronic kit sources, and Appendix K lists electronic project design and fabrication web sites to visit. In addition, Appendix G has been revised to include additional published sources for technical writers. New terms have been added to the glossary.

This book is an excellent starting point in the electronic engineering. The book is written for students and technicians, "not for engineers"; however, the author keeps a high academic level and covers all the topics of electronic engineering: design process, prototyping, CAD technologies, and documentation. I suggest the author to write other book like this one, focused on graduated engineers, with an industrial approach.......

The only book you need to understand Interfaces and Colloids

I have taken two interface and colloids courses (one with Professor Berg), and am currently a professor at Duke in the area of chemistry and nanomaterials. Dr. Berg's book, resulting from decades of diverse experience performing research and teaching in the field, is an exquisitely clear introduction to interfaces, colloids, and their central role in nanoscience and everyday life. I have reviewed many books in the area of nanoscience and colloids, this is by far the best, it has no peer. Further, as an "expert" I find it the most comprehensive reference for information on the topic. Dr. Berg manages to describe things in a way students can intuitively understand, but he also derives the equations necessary for quantitative prediction of complex phenomena. After taking his course several years ago, I find myself often referring to his book when I want to refresh my knowledge in an area, or learn something new (before it was published this year he sold it to students for his class - I have treasured this book and have often told him he should publish it). The "fun things to do" at the end of each chapter are indeed fun, but also extremely simple and illustrative experiments one can show a class, or do oneself, to further enhance one's understanding of how molecular-level interactions control the world around us. No complicated materials are needed - want to measure the thickness of the water-air interface? All you need is a laser pointer and a piece of paper. Ever wonder why you can fill a cup of water over the brim? Why cleaning products work better than water? Berg will give you the complete molecular-level understanding, no matter what your background. For a student interested in nanoscience, this is the place to start, this book will give you the background you need to understand the literature (often to a better extant than those that write it!). For educators - get this book! It will make your job of coming up with good explanations so much easier! Dr. Berg has worked it all out. My only wish is that Dr. Berg comes out with a supplement describing his full gamut of laboratory experiments. But I truly can not praise this book enough, so well organized, so clear, so well thought out, so much knowledge. What are you waiting for? Buy it!

An excellent book

I took Professor John Berg's Surface and Colloid Science course as an undergraduate student about six years ago. The course materials, which I presume are a precursor to this book, are concise, thorough, and masterfully conveyed. The knowledge gained from the course was instrumental in my success during a career at a leading national laboratory after graduation. Professor Berg has a true and unique gift for writing and teaching. Any student would be lucky to learn from this book.

This is a great compilation of the complete subject matter. It brings the reader along from the beginning thinking on this subject and builds from chapter to chapter. I think it a valuable reference book for those doing complex techincal thinking on interfaces and colloids. It also is a great text for those learning the subject matter. The author has a great way of bringing in practical examples of how to apply the theory. A great addition to my technical library.

This is a basic book, but the basics are the foundation of success. Basics are EASY TO LEARN but essential to master, or you will keep failing, even though you try all kinds of "patterns" and "programming" of women, and "game." DO WHAT WORKS! This book covers, in great detail but using as few words as necessary to get the point across, exactly where to find the type of girls YOU want to meet, and what to say to them. If you read and master this one book you will do well with women forever, without having to spend hundreds of dollars on home-study courses or thousands of dollars on seminars: and make no mistake: thousands of men do. I know: I have attended those seminars as a guest teacher.
Here are some basics you need to know in order to do well with women (generally speaking--of course occasional exceptions exist):

When you meet a girl for the first time, several factors will decide how "hot" she thinks you are and how fast she will try to please you. If you are a rock star and it is your concert, you are a 10 and she is a 3, or even a 2. You are in total control of your interaction and she will do all kinds of things she never tells mommy and daddy--all to impress you with her sex-appeal. On the other hand, if you are at a party and she has spent 3 hours perfecting her look (dress, hair, make-up, attitude, etc.) and is surrounded by her friends and several dumb guys all pawing at her, she is now at the 9-10 part of the scale psychologically and you are anywhere from 2 to 7 at best. She is in control. It is even worse at a club, where you are expected to spend money and time impressing her.

You can change the balance of power at any time. You do this by thinking ahead. You know what you are good at. You know your strengths (and weaknesses) and you should always have some of your strengths on display. Don't be like that reality TV-show star who is always taking off his shirt to show off his abs. That is just stupid and gets old very fast. But make sure that you are always projecting your best qualities, even if they seem to go unseen. You can also increase your sexual identity by being different--by subtly asserting your unique identity. Being yourself--being different, or non-generic shows a girl that you have the confidence she does not. You can be whomever you want because you don't care about what other people say or think about you--you are having too much fun in life being you. This is imperative to master. Girl's want to have fun, not be pawed and worshiped by another cretin (loser) with noting exciting to offer. Going back to #1 (above); if you are in your moment of power (e.g. you are a jock at the football game, or you are the chess master and you are in the championship finals, and so on...) you radiate power and generic appeal that you do not when you are wearing a suit and tie at work, in your cubicle, on Wednesday afternoon. But, if you have some small but noticeable "thing" about you that piques women's interest (and you don't have to impress every one of them) you will find them much more interested in you and your confidence will rise naturally from all of the extra attention.

Always make friends with women. It is a cliché that women never have sex with their friends. (This is a lie--a LOT of women have sex with their friends; when they are drunk, when their friends are hot, when they are lonely, when they realize they "really like" their friends...), but making friends with women disempowers and demystifies women in general. They are no longer foreign objects, or strange creatures from the planet "I want some of that!" You easily become comfortable with women in general which makes it easier for you to be comfortable with the women you want to do all kinds of fun things with. By contrast, if you cannot make casual friends with women you will have a much harder time getting the ones you want to do ANYTHING you want. Go easy on yourself; practice being yourself on your women friends. Practice increasing your sexual appeal with people (female ones) who already like you. This will make it infinitely easier to approach the super-hotties you can't seem to stop drooling over. It will also help your sexual prowess, as getting with a girl won't be such a huge accomplishment that your body gets all orgasmic on you at the thought of her touching you.

These are just a few quick tidbits to work on. Try my book. It is cheap and easy. And it really does work--it is the "basic" foundation that every successful PUA masters. An excellent guide for the average man

This book is hilarious - and it works. It is a step-by-step guide to meeting girls on the street (coffeehouses, laundromats, grocery stores, gas stations... you get the idea). We didn't really see much on funerals: the author did mention picking up girls at funerals, so we were hoping for a bit more detail on that. But what you will learn here is how to approach ANY girl casually, no matter where you are, and with no stress on you: no matter "how hot you think she is." Then you will learn how to transition from "hello" into getting the girl interested enough in you to give you a few minutes of her time to work your magic, and then get her number. Not to worry, the author even has a few tricks to show you how to do that as well. This book is a MUST HAVE, but it is far from the only book you should read.

This book will not make you a superstar PUA, but if you have any game at all, what you will learn here will definitely improve your performance just about anywhere. You will even learn how to pick up girls in front of your girlfriend, and how to pick up 2-3 girls at once (in front of each other). We tried some of these techniques and they were as easy as the author claims. Of course we have had some practice over the years, but even so, this is stuff any guy can - and should - master.

The price was reasonable enough - about 1/2 the cost of a cheap first date, and the laughs were pretty good as well. If you do get a copy of this book, **be sure to read the entire thing**. It is a 30 day home study course on picking up girls you see everywhere, but it is also a course on becoming more popular in general. It won't teach you game, but it will teach you how to use what you've got - even if you only have a little.

Decent, but information overload dude!

Okay, so I liked the book - but if it were about 50 pages shorter I might have liked it a lot better. This guy starts off with how to pick up chicks wherever you see them every day, and he goes too much into why this approach works, and how this other approach is weak or strong (he sounds like my old professors), and then he has this cool section on how to read their palms (I have seen guys do this stuff - that and that trick where they tell your future by your handwriting). Anyway, that was all okay, and of course he has to spend a hundred pages telling you how to put all of this together; what to do if she says this, what to do if her boyfriend shows up, how to get out of a conversation with a psycho chick (I say just leave - don't even say goodbye), and then he has some tests, and experiences from people I really don't care about. No offense but I just ant to know how I can get laid, you know?

This book has a TON of information but I felt like I was back in school. I did try what he said over the past week and a half and it seems to be working, I got a few chick's phone numbers, but I think he could have saved me a lot of time reading by just telling me straight out how to approach hotties at the store, gas station (and so on), get the number and leave it at that. Once I have a girl's number in my pocket I think I know what to do. I don't know. Does it work? Sure. And it is funny at times. But it is pretty heavy stuff. look, if you are looking for something really quick, check out Seduce Me. The Mystery Method is also killer, but it takes a while to build up your game using his techniques. Mystery is out to turn guys into PUAs. A book like this or Seduce me is just about having some fun meeting hicks and getting dates when you want one.
